Ben - thanks. Hasn't Microsoft somewhat joined the fray with their HTML5 support commitment?

I don't think you are overstating anything, but the market is a bit topsy turvy at the moment.
Google has just signed in as the new Flash God-parent by including Flash player in Chrome (browser to become OS) and so I guess also into Android or Chrome for STB or whatever the TV version gets called.

So we have the open standards-loving Apple up against the evil proprietary Google/Adobe. Mmmm doesn't sound right, but its true.
Remember Wired Magazine's cover of about a year ago about the Evil Genius of Apple?

The missing element is of course Microsoft who should really team up with Apple on this because their real enemy is Google, but Silerlight and Balmer/Jobs CEO rivalry might prevent that (especially as Apple's market Cap will surpass Microsoft's in the next year or so).
